ess.spectroscopy.indirect.conversion.energy_transfer(*, incident_energy, final_energy)[source]#

Compute the energy transfer.

Here, the energy transfer is defined the same as in ScippNeutron (https://scipp.github.io/scippneutron/user-guide/coordinate-transformations.html) to be

\[\Delta E = E_i - E_f\]
Parameters:
  • incident_energy (Variable) – The neutron energy \(E_i\) before scattering.

  • final_energy (Variable) – The neutron energy \(E_f\) after scattering.

Returns:

Variable – The energy transfer \(\Delta E\).
